My Car Edge is a one-stop shop for all things auto, offering car listings, auto advocates, insurance, and car warranty services. The previous website was outdated and in need of a revamp. As a UX designer at YAA, my role was to lead the user research, user experience, and user interface design for the project. The goal was to update the Car Edge site, add new features, and enhance the overall user experience.
Company: YAA
Platform: Responsive website
Industry: Automotive industry
Timeline: Aug 2022 - Dec 2022
My Contribution: User research, user experience, user interface.
Other Contributors: Project Manager, Front-end and Back-end developers.
I created designs and flows for car search with filtering and favorites.
To kick off the project, I conducted user research to gain insights into the target audience's needs, preferences, and pain points. The research involved a combination of surveys, interviews, and competitor analysis. Key findings from the research included:
Users wanted a streamlined platform that offered a seamless car buying, selling, and ownership experience.
Users valued trustworthy information and expert advice during the car purchasing process.
Users desired a user-friendly interface that allowed easy navigation and quick access to relevant information.
Based on the research insights, I developed the user experience design for the Car Edge website, focusing on improving usability and enhancing the overall user journey. The key components of the UX design included:
Streamlined Navigation: Reorganized the website's structure to ensure intuitive navigation and easy access to key features and content.
Buying, Selling, and Owning Page: Created a dedicated section that provided comprehensive information and resources related to each stage of the car ownership lifecycle.
Auto Advocates Integration: Designed a seamless integration of auto advocates into the platform, allowing users to receive expert advice and assistance during the car buying process.
Insurance and Car Warranty Integration: Implemented user-friendly flows for users to easily explore and purchase insurance and car warranty options through trusted partners.
I used Figma to create responsive design and identify breaking points
To revitalize the visual appeal of the Car Edge website, I crafted a modern and engaging user interface design. The key elements of the UI design included:
Refreshed Visual Identity: Developed a new visual identity, including color scheme, typography, and iconography, that aligned with the brand values and target audience preferences.
Responsive Layout: Ensured the website's responsiveness across various devices, providing a consistent and seamless experience for users on desktop and mobile.
Account Page and Login Flows: Designed intuitive account creation and login flows, allowing users to personalize their experience, save preferences, and access exclusive features.
Throughout the project, I collaborated closely with the Project Manager, Front-end, and Back-end developers. I provided design assets, style guides, and conducted regular design reviews to ensure the seamless implementation of the UX and UI designs. Iterative design and development cycles were followed to gather feedback, make improvements, and refine the final product.
The redesign of the My Car Edge website aimed to modernize the user experience, provide comprehensive information and resources, and enhance user engagement. By conducting user research, designing intuitive user experiences, and creating visually appealing user interfaces, the project successfully met its goals. The updated website provided a user-friendly platform for car buying, selling, and ownership, integrated with auto advocates, insurance, and car warranty services. The
